I am a 55 year old man who for approximately the past 18 years has suffered with chronic pain, depression, and anxiety disorder. After many years taking opiate pain medicine my life was not my own anymore and the side effects were loss of motivation and sex drive. Both of which increased depression and anxiety. Late in 2010 I decided to come off the opiates no matter what the consequences because I just could not live with the side effects anymore. I first went to a doctor who prescribed Suboxone and soon became a slave to that. Also, with the same side effects. When I attempted to taper and stop the Suboxone the withdrawal symptoms were so severe I could not keep going.
Then in early 2011 I discovered kratom. Not only was I able to taper and stop the Suboxone I also found that I didn't need the anti-depressant medications anymore and my need for anti-anxiety meds was greatly reduced.
I take kratom almost daily and the sense of well-being and energy of my youth is back. There has been no need to increase amounts of kratom and I can go days without it. My depression has lifted and I feel like I am living again instead of just existing. I am healthier in body and mind and have not been sick with colds or allergies that used to plague me. I assume this is certainly partially due to the wide spectrum of anti-oxidants in kratom. The bottom line for me, kratom is a remarkable herb with great potential to do great good in our world.
